Les Basiles was founded with the idea of using fashion as a canvas for expression to reintroduce to the public artistic movements that are too often ignored.

At Les Basiles, we believe that Rococo, which prefigures neoclassicism, is the mother of modernist arts, such as Cubism, Dadaism, the De Stijl movement, or the Bauhaus.

Rococo, or Rocaille style in France, is an 18th-century European artistic movement encompassing architecture, decorative arts, painting, and sculpture. It developed from 1715 to 1780 in France and later in the Holy Roman Empire, then in Southern Europe (Savoy, Italy, Spain, Portugal), following the Baroque movement.

The Rococo style that inspires us in Les Basiles is that of Antoine Watteau, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, and François Boucher, closer to Neoclassicism than Baroque.

Their style focuses on charming, natural yet spare, and often libertine scenes, where pastel colors and a genuine sensitivity to clothing and fashion are emphasized.
